Enoch "Eddie" Johns Obituary

Enoch “Eddie” Elias Johns, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 20, 2020 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on September 21, 1951 in Naylor, Georgia to the late James Edward Johns & Mary Lee (Thompson) Johns.

Along with his parents, Eddie is preceded in passing by his brother, Cecil Johns; and his three sisters, Ada Nell Johns, Linda Larrimore & Wanda Lougene Spikes.

Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of many awards and accolades including two Purple Hearts. Upon his honorable discharge, Eddie was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He was a skilled commercial fisherman for many years until his retirement. Eddie was also a very faithful man. He was an active member of Socastee United Methodist Church in Socastee and was a member of their Men’s Club. His love for his church brought him the opportunity for many local and international missions. Above all else, Eddie loved his family with his whole heart. He will forever be remembered for the amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend he truly was.

Left to cherish Eddie’s memory are his three sons, Garrett Johns (Ashley) of Conway, Dustin Altman Johns of Myrtle Beach & Enoch Johns, Jr. of Morven, GA; daughter, Cheryl Butcher and her husband, Shawn of Morven, GA; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, James Warren Johns and his wife, Karen of Monroe, IA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at a later date.
