After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia, Ellen M. Cook passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband of 43 years, Lawrence “Larry” Cook.
Born on December 19, 1950, Ellen was a proud graduate of Lady Cliff Academy in Peekskill, New York, Class of 1969. She began her professional life with dedication and compassion, working for over ten years with Edilson, Letterman & Cohen OBGYN in Poughkeepsie, NY. Following moves with her family, Ellen continued her career in the medical field—six years in Indianapolis and five years in Connecticut—making lasting connections everywhere she went.
In 2003, Ellen and Larry settled in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, a place they joyfully called home. Ellen worked with Pawleys Island Adult Medicine and Pediatrics until her retirement in 2018, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and steady professionalism.
Ellen was a loving mother to her two sons, Daniel and Christopher Sanseverino, and a proud grandmother to Chloe, Isabella, Evan, and Kara, Brother, Anthony J. Sialaino of Surfside Beach SC, Sister, Patricia Dodd of BSO Southport NC, Sister, Dorothy F. Gaglie of BSO Southport, NC, Sister, Maureen Jessup-Mallone of Mount Pleasant NC, Brother, Joseph J. Sialiano of Yorktown Heights, NY, Brother, George P. Sialiano of Mahopac NY. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Ellen’s life was filled with many passions. She loved baking, found peace in sailing, and enjoyed attending car shows with Larry and their prize-winning Mustang. She was also a proud, long-standing member of the Elks, where she once served as First Lady, contributing her time and heart to the organization.
Ellen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Services will be held on December 19th at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a 3:00 PM service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to the Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge 2797, PO Box 1746. Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 earmarked for Alzheimer’s.
