Obituary
Elaine K. Pinson, 76, of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at her residence. She was born October 21, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late James Lomax Kennedy and Ann Marie Ponte Kennedy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Aaron Pinson.
She is survived by her sister, Debra Joy of Chapin, SC; nieces Heather Ann Joy Quilal-Ian and her husband, Jesse, Summer Laine Speight and her husband, Mark; a nephew, James Albert Joy, IV; as well as many cousins and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Elaine was a graduate of USC with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree. She retired as Warden from Walden Correctional Institution in Columbia, SC. Elaine was a member of Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet and a former member of Chapin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering with the Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Department as well as Brookgreen Gardens. After retirement, Elaine, alongside her husband, danced days away with their shag club and chased adventure as acting extras in several movie productions. She was also a devoted beachcomber, seeking beauty and peace along the South Carolina shore.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to either Belin United Methodist or to Chapin United Methodist Church.
