Edward Joseph Purcell, age 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday April 7, 2021 at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach.
Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, Ed is the son of Evelyn Gale Thornbury and the late Edward J. Purcell, Sr.
Ed worked security for Myrtle Beach Resort from 2007 to 2017 and served as Chief of Security from 2014 to 2017.
In addition to his father, Ed is predeceased by his brother, Stephen E. Purcell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Clare V. Purcell of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Melissa Purcell Robinson and her husband Darren Robinson of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Jacob Edward Robinson and Kaylee Nicole Robinson; mother, Evelyn Gale Thornbury of Camden, DE; brother, Galen Purcell and his wife Lana Purcell of Magnolia, DE; nephew Patrick Purcell; nieces, Amanda Purcell and Caitlin Purcell; sisters, Anne Kirby, Wendie Marsden.
A memorial mass will be held Friday April 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, Garden City with interment following in the church columbarium.
