Dr. Bülent Kâmil Aktuğ, M.D., 91, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Clinton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Margaret Suzanne Aktuğ, and his children, Amber S. Fitz and Kurt B. Aktug.
Dr. Aktuğ, or “Doc”, as he was known to many, was born on May 27, 1931, in Kayseri, Turkey, the third son of the late Yusuf and Nedime Aktuğ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Savlet Aktuğ and Safder Aktuğ.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his daughter, Amber, and her husband, Tom, of Anderson, SC; his son, Kurt, and his wife, Samantha, of Kernersville, NC; his four grandchildren, Morgan S. Fitz of Hillsborough, NC, Cameron M. Fitz of Clemson, SC, and Samuel Cole Aktug and Tyler Kamil Aktug of Kernersville, NC; niece, Gülnur Aktuğ, of Bodrum, Turkey, and other nieces and nephews.
Doc received his M.D. at Ankara University in 1956. Becoming an American citizen, he spent time living in Florida, Texas, Maryland, and South Carolina. He enjoyed the beach, boating, skiing, soccer, woodworking, helping others, a good laugh, and, above all, spending as much time as possible with his family. He was a loving, faithful, dedicated, generous family man, and he will be greatly missed.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 3:00 PM, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet, SC. Doc very much would have preferred cheerful attire.
