Douglas Darrel Spivey, 62, passed away peacefully Monday, March 22, 2021, at home.
Born in Loris, SC, Doug was known for his talent to be able to fix anything and everything. He recently retired after a 27-year career with CenturyLink, having spent over 40 years in the telecommunications industry.
Doug enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and loved collecting and restoring classic cars including his three 1972 El Caminos along with his 1972 Corvette, which was his pride and joy. Doug also loved wearing his Clemson orange - Go Tigers.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Alice “Cricket” Alcorn of Murrells Inlet; brother, Gary Spivey (Melissa) of Loris; sister, Pam Cox (Chris) also of Loris; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Betty Little Cox and his stepfather, Frank Cox.
A Celebration of Life and Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, April 2, 2021, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's name to PALM Charter High School (Palmetto Academy for Learning Motorsports), 826 West Cox Ferry Road, Conway, SC 29526, to be used to educate local high school students to become car enthusiasts like Doug.
