Dorothy Josephine Lucas

Dorothy Josephine Lucas, 86, of Surfside Beach, passed away peacefully Saturday March 14, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Lucas was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Adam and Karoline Payesko.   Originally from New Jersey, she has called Surfside Beach, SC her home since 2003. Mrs. Lucas was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was a Catholic Daughter, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a Adoration attendee.  She was a skilled and competitive card player who also enjoyed bowling, reading and the beach.  To her many nieces and nephews, whose hearts she touched, she was known as Aunt Jokie.   In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband John Lucas and 8 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son, Mark McCracken of Wilkes Berre, PA;  daughters, Lisa Josephs and her husband Ken Josephs of Myrtle Beach; Janet Higgins and her husband Michael Higgins of Andover, NJ; Mari LaPrelle and her husband Keith LaPrelle of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Steven McCracken, Beth McCraken, Crystal McCracken, Dylan Slater, Taylor Josephs, Eric Josephs, Samantha Sieka, Jamie Sieka, Katie LaPrelle and Kevin LaPrelle; great grandchildren, Mason and Averly.

A memorial mass will be held 12:00 PM Saturday March 21, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave., Garden City, SC  29588 with interment following in the church columbarium.
