Dorothy LeClerc Obituary

Dorothy Margaret. LeClerc, 88, beloved mother of Leah, Tom and Mike went peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday April 3, 2021 at her home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She was born on September 22, 1932 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Oscar Dupont & Lillian Fontaine Dupont.

Along with her parents, Dorothy is reunited in God’s kingdom with her beloved husband of 58 years, Rene’; granddaughter, Sarah & sister, Jeanette.

Dorothy was raised in Oakville, CT where she attended Polk School and graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked at the Watertown High School cafeteria with a great group of ladies for 17 years and was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years. After retirement, Dorothy and Rene traveled from the Canadian Maritimes to Florida in their various RV’s and motorhomes and enjoyed meeting folks while camping. Following her relocation to Pawleys Island in 2011,  Dorothy enjoyed her new church home Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church (PBOC).  She was an avid reader and found peace walking the grounds at Brookgreen Gardens or the Pawleys Island beaches.  Above all else, Dorothy loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her joyful spirit, her bright smile and love for her Lord & family.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her adoring children, Thomas LeClerc (Susan) of East Hartland, CT, Leah LeClerc of  Pawleys Island, SC & Michael LeClerc (Elizabeth) of  Litchfield, CT; grandchildren, Ashley Uricheck,  Peter LeClerc & Kevin LeClerc; great-granddaughters, Aubrie LeClerc & Belanna Uricheck; sisters in-law, Cecile Lamy & Irene Morel; brother in-law, Henry LeClerc; a multitude of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins, as well as many supportive friends and neighbors locally and in Connecticut.

The family would like to thank Dorothy’s faithful caregivers, Bree, Vanessa, Stephanie, and Renee and many neighbors and friends who delivered food, visited, helped with care during her illness. Also, thank-you to Father Pat and Father Paul and Donna who visited & blessed her with sacraments & the Holy Eucharist. All brought her happiness & hope.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s life with Rite of Christian Burial will be held in Connecticut later this spring and details announced when plans are finalized.
