Dorothy Mae McMillan Lane, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday October 1, 2021 at Compass Post-Acute Care & Nursing Home in Conway, South Carolina. She was born on March 24, 1932 in Laurinburg, North Carolina to the late Charles Monroe McMillan & Mary Thomas Sizemore McMillan.

Along with her parents, Dorothy is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, David Roy Lane & her siblings, Charles M. McMillan Jr. (Kate), Ruth Sizemore McMillan, John Douglas McMillan, Mildred Lee Kelly (Clyde), Martha Thomas Hennecy (Cuyler), Malcolm Lewis McMillan (Jean), Samuel Allen McMillan (Ruby), Hattie Louise Leggett (Vernon), & Patricia Ann Tapp (Thomas).

Dorothy was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold. She was a skilled secretary for her local phone company for many years. Following her well-deserved retirement, Dorothy was able to enjoy the finer things in life. She relished time spent with family and making memories with friends. Dorothy loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her son, William David “Bill” Lane, daughter, Susan Lane; grandson, Tanner David Lane all of Myrtle Beach SC; sister, Nancy Ella McGinn (Harry) of Grapevine, TX, brother, Archibald (Archie) Curtis McMillan of Ellerbee, NC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held privately. Per her wishes, Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband during a private ceremony.
