Donnie G. Lawson

 Donnie G. Lawson, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully and with his family by his side on Friday January 11, 2019 at the Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on June 19, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Herbert & Della Blovelt Lawson.

Along with his parents, Donnie is preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 29 years, Mrs. Donna Lawson; brother, Herb Lawson; sister, Sharon Combs.

Donnie proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for over 25 years. Upon his honorable discharge, Donnie went on to become a Human Resources Manager for several insurance companies but most recently, having retired from Old Republic Insurance Group in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Upon his relocation to Myrtle Beach in 2015, he was able to enjoy spending time with his family and friends and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

Left to cherish Donnie's memory are his sons, Donnie G. Lawson, Jr. of Cumming, GA, Daniel Lawson & David Lawson, both of Louisville, KY; his companion of 30 years, Ms. Debbie Johnson and her sons, Michael, Dana, & Ben; grandchildren; sister, Sandy Adair; several nieces and nephews; a large, loving, extended family as well as many supportive friends and neighbors. 

A Celebration of Donnie's life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions in Donnie's name may be made to your local Salvation Army.
