Donald "Buckeye" Bidinger Obituary

Donald J. “Buckeye” Bidinger, 78, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on June 3, 1943 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Joseph John & Miriam Viola Gay Bidinger.

Along with his parents, Don is reunited in passing with his twin brother, David Bidinger; and step-children, Vonni Preston Anderson & Zachory Nickles Preston.

Don attended St. Augustine's and Barberton High School and graduated from The University of Akron with a master's degree. Don was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He was a skilled and dedicated employee for Roadway Express, and an accountant for Goodrich & Michelin Corp. in Barberton, OH for many years. While in Ohio, Don was a member of the Barberton Moose Lodge for 25 years.  Don earned many honors of President of the First Golden Moose, Past Governor, the Fellowship Degree, Moose Legion Past President, and was the Pool Tournament organizer for Surfside Beach Moose Lodge where he enjoyed so many wonderful friends, in Murrells Inlet, S.C. for 21 years. Following his relocation to Murrells Inlet, and always one to volunteer his time, Don was an officer for the Myrtle Beach Kennel Club. In his free time, Don relished cheering on the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and singing karaoke, most of all playing pool with his many acquired friends at the lodge. He was a proud protestant with a servant’s heart and found peace watching the waves roll in on the beach. Above all else, Don loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his quick wit, bright smile, infectious laughter and giving heart!

Left to cherish Don’s memory are his adoring wife of over 21 years, Susan Wilson Bidinger of Murrells Inlet; his children, Laura Lynn Sibley and her husband Kevin, of Fredericksburg, VA & James "Jimmy" Bidinger of Akron, OH and former spouse Patrica White Bidinger; Grandson, Kory Bidinger; four step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; Brother, Joseph "Joe" Bidinger and wife, Jan of Madison, OH; Sister, Barbara Brown and her husband, David of Clinton, OH; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his loyal Japanese Chins dogs (Crybaby & Jill) and his obnoxious Parrot Silver; and a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Barberton Moose Lodge Tuesday, November 2nd  Barberton, OH at 5:30pm and Surfside Beach Moose Lodge Saturday, November 20th Murrells Inlet, S.C. at 1:30pm.

At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Don’s name may be made to Moose Charities 155 S. North International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539 or Imagine Church, 13000 S. Tryon Street, Suite F-114, Charlotte, NC 28278.
