Obituary
Donald Joseph Peterson, 86, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 following a brief illness. Born August 2, 1936 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Agnes Peterson. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a retired police officer with Bay Head NJPD. He lived a lifetime of service, first to his country, then to his state and his community.
He was a lifelong member of the ELKS, Point Pleasant, NJ as well as the Masonic Lodge #368, Murrells Inlet, SC. He was also a member of the following: F.O.P. Coastal Carolina, #12 SC, the American Legion, Murrells Inlet, the Moose Club, Surfside, SC, past president of Myrtle Beach Shrine Club, OMAR Shrine, Charleston, SC, Royal Order of Jesters and Kachina Klub.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Dacey (NJ), and his step-son, Roger Clark. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marion Peterson, step-son Donald Clark, former daughter in-law Clarice Ennes Clark, three grandsons, Justin, Derek and Dillon Clark all of NH and a host of dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on April 1, 2023 from 1-4 pm at the Blackmoor community center (Harbin House), Longwood Drive, Murrells Inlet, SC.
