Donald Allen Obituary

Donald E Allen, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 28, 2022, he was 85. Don was born in South Glens Falls, New York to the late Walter B. & Lucille M. Allen (White).

Don loved life, this could be seen in his interactions with everyone he met, to the time he spent with his family. With the love of his life, Kathleen, they built an amazing family legacy that instilled strong family values and unconditional love in all of their children and grandchildren.

Don graduated from South Glens Falls High School, and as an outstanding athlete in football, track, and baseball; Don received a full scholarship for football to Springfield College where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degree. Don went on to have many professional accomplishments, as a teacher, coach and administrator. Don believed his biggest accomplishment was being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Don was an amazing father who through his loving actions, words and guidance provided unconditional love for all of his children. He taught his children to enjoy every moment life has to offer, and supported them in all of their endeavors. Don enjoyed spending time boating, fishing, hunting and golfing. The family has many fond memories of their dad including times that they spent as a family camping and boating throughout the Adirondacks.

Don is predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Kathleen L Allen (Lapoint). Left to cherish Don’s memory are their children, Suzanne Youngblood (Donald), Steve Allen (Nancy), Melissa Allen Eaddy (Jeff), Scott Allen (Nancy), & Camille Harrelson (James); grandchildren, Meghan and Caitlyn Youngblood, Michael (Lauren), Brian (Holly), Donald (Sarah)Allen, Jessica (Caleb) Britt and Hannah Eaddy, Skyler, Hunter, and Jake Allen, and Josh (Chelsea), Madison, and Jacob Ritchey, Ben & Ivan Harrelson; great-grandchildren, Brody & Brock Allen, Jamie (Brandon), Mackenzie Allen and Tyler Harrington; great-great granddaughter Mia Allen; brother David (Jean) Allen of South Glens Falls, NY; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
