Dominick John Potente Jr.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dominick John Potente, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, announces his unexpected passing on December 1, 2025.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Jennie (Benucci) Potente, Dominick is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda (O’Mahoney), and two cherished children:  his son Dominick J. Potente III and his wife Lauren;

and his son Michael J. Potente; his sister Carol Ann Kerris (Potente) and her husband Robert; his sister Cabrina Potente; and his brother-in-law John O’Mahoney and his wife, Sally. 

Dominick was the proud grandfather of Amanda and Caroline Potente.

Dominick was known by his nickname, Donnie, and carried on his Father’s contracting company after graduation from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, New Jersey, and built it into Potente Contracting Company, a home renovation and carpentry business.  He went on to use his talents as a valued member of the West Caldwell Department of Public Works. 

Donnie led a very active life after relocating to Myrtle Beach, loved his golf outings with his friends, relaxing on the beach with Linda, enjoying walks and playing with his much-loved dog, Jimmy, and creating delicious meals for his many friends.   He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, always looking on the bright side of life, and lovingly offering his friendship and support to family and friends.

A private funeral service for immediate family will be held in Myrtle Beach on December 7, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey in the Spring of 2026, the details to be announced.
