Della J. Rhine

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend

Della J Rhine died June 4, 2023 at 84 years of life. Dee was born July 6, 1938 in Portsmouth Virginia, to Luther & Kate Johnson. She graduated from Churchland High School in 56, and married the love of her life, Donald "Don" Rhine August 29, 1959. The two were blessed with 3 children who were raised lovingly in Waldorf, MD. At this stage in her life, Dee enjoyed competing in duck pin bowling leagues, camping, dancing with her husband, and most of all, caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother. In 1976, Dee survived a major stroke that she would later tell friends and family provided her a more personal relationship with God and a deeper understanding of herself. Dee and her husband attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church where they sang with the Stained-Glass Bluegrass group. After raising their children, she owned and operated an Exxon mobile gas station together with Don before retiring to Myrtle Beach, SC. In retirement she enjoyed her Surfside United Methodist Church family, volunteering with the Jason's House ministry and in the church office, spending time at the beach, hosting loved ones, going on cruises, and absolutely dominating the game of Skip-Bo. Dee is remembered for her sweet spirit and determined personality.

She is survived by her children, Donny Rhine Jr, Danny Rhine (Maureen), Terri Young (Eddie); Grandchildren, Eddie Young Jr (Lauren), Matthew Young (Rachel), Nichole Tull; Great grandchildren, Keira Young, Kayley Drake, Macaylah Garnett, Audrey Ballard, Everleigh Young, Emberlynn Young; And twin sister Mary Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Rhine and brothers Robert Johnson & Donny Johnson.

The family would like to express our thanks for the help and care given by Grand Strand Health Rehabilitation Center, the Embrace Hospice House of Myrtle Beach, and the love she received at St. Gabriel's Assisted Living of Murrells Inlet.

A memorial service will be held at Surfside United Methodist Church 800 13th Ave N, Surfside Beach, SC 29575, Thursday, June 8th at 2:00 pm.
