It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Delbert E. Worden, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Del peacefully departed this world on July 13, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by the comfort of his home in Myrtle Beach, SC, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on June 29, 1946, to Kenneth and Alberta Wood Worden, Del spent his early years in Dansville, New York, where he was nurtured by a loving family. He was predeceased by his cherished parents and his sister, Delores.

Del is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Carol Cole Worden, whose partnership and love were the foundation of his life. Together, they raised two wonderful children: Tina Parsons and her husband Chuck, and Eric Worden and his wife Rebecca. Del's legacy extends through his brother, Kenneth Worden and his wife Bonnie, as well as three adored grandchildren Thomas Worden, Kyle Worden Sydnie Cansdale (Caleb) and one great-grandchild Emmett Cansdale, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

Del's educational journey began at Grover Cleveland High School in Buffalo, New York, where he graduated in 1964. He furthered his studies at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, and Collin Community College in McKinney, Texas. Ever committed to personal and professional growth, Del earned certification in MOST Systems as a Supervisor and completed a management course from IMC in Rochester, New York.

A proud veteran, Del served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967, achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-5) before receiving an honorable discharge. His career was marked by dedication and leadership, with significant contributions at Gunlocke Chair Company, Eastman Kodak, and Sybron-Castle M.P.D. Headquarters. He culminated his professional journey as the Production and Facility Manager at Airborn, Inc., where he spent 15 years overseeing operations for their military plane connector production.

In addition to his professional achievements, Del was deeply involved in his community. As a member of the American Legion and the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), he exemplified civic responsibility. His passion for sports was evident through his management of a Little League team in Wayland, New York, for eight years and a softball team in Princeton, Texas.

Del found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid golfer, he celebrated a memorable hole-in-one at Arrowhead Golf Course in Myrtle Beach. His weekends were often spent fishing on serene lakes, finding solace in nature. A devoted Washington Redskins fan, Del's enthusiasm was unyielding, and he cherished a special birthday trip to their stadium with his daughter, Tina.

In honoring Del's wishes, no funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Staten Island, New York, an organization that aligned with Del's values and community spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Crescent Hospice for their compassionate care during Del's illness and to Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services for their support in handling his passing with dignity and love.

Delbert E. Worden's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to family and community. May he rest in peace, knowing he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
