David Earle McLean, 84, of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at NHC of Garden City. He was born September 11, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Earle R. McLean and Louise Morris McLean.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard McLean. Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty years, Rosemarie McLean (DeVito) of Surfside Beach, SC; one son, David McLean and his wife, Denise of Murrells Inlet, SC; and one daughter, Heather McLean of Huntersville, NC.
David was a proud and dedicated member of Teamsters Local 560, where he worked as a driver for 25 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and took part in the Mercury capsule recovery efforts, contributing to a pivotal era in American history.
After relocating from New Jersey to South Carolina 30 years ago, David became an active and valued member of his community. He was a member of VFW Post 10420 in Murrells Inlet, the American Legion Post 178 in Murrells Inlet, and Moose Lodge 2351 in Surfside Beach.
David had a love for golf and enjoyed spending time on the course. He will be remembered for his service, dedication, and the friendships he built throughout his life.
A mass of Christian burial for David’s life will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church 542 Cypress Ave, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
