Daniel Charles Carney

Daniel Charles Carney, age 65, passed away peacefully Saturday May 13, 2023 at his residence in Myrtle Beach.

Formerly of Hawthorne, NY, Daniel was the son of Rita E. Carney and the late Daniel J. Carney.  Known for his story telling and making others laugh, Daniel enjoyed fishing, playing golf, shooting, reading, cooking for his family and friends, and doing improvements around the home.   He loved the beach and his cats, Willie, Sam and Sparks.

Daniel was a wonderful supportive father and loving husband. He always took tremendous pride in his work and in helping family and friends.  Dan cherished his many relationships he made during his career as owner of Carney Mechanical and from Con Edison.

Survivors include his loving wife, Leslie Ann Carney, Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Shannon Lynn Carney; son in law, Mike Winters, Franklin, TN; granddaughter, Kathrine Autumn Winters, Franklin, TN; son, Daniel Thomas Carney, daughter in law, Kaitlin Phillips, Long Island, NY; mother, Rita E. Carney, Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Susan Carney, Avondale Estates, GA; uncle Charles J.Keller, Valhalla, NY; aunt, Tootsie Wozarik.

A Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday May 20, 2023 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 170 Bradhurst Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel’s name to the Horry County Fire Department, 2560 North Main Street, S-1&2, Conway, SC 29526 or to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC  20090, by phone 800-628-0028, online at www.aspca.org or to any local animal shelter.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Horry County Fire Department for their exceptional services and to Right at Home Care Service for their care in Daniel’s final days.
