Vidalia, Georgia lost one of its most unforgettable characters when Clarence Estes Parrish passed away at 79. A legendary moonshiner with a raspy voice, a mischievous grin, and a heart as big as the Appalachian hills, Clarence lived more stories in his lifetime than most folks could pack into five.
Ornery but endlessly charming, he could spin a tale about his adventures—and misadventures—that kept friends, family, and even the lawmen who once chased him laughing for hours. Clarence was fiercely loyal, deeply loving of his family, and beloved by everyone who crossed his path, from neighbors to those sworn to catch him.
He will be remembered as a rascal, a raconteur, and a rare soul whose wild, full-throttle life was matched only by his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. His legacy is one of grit, laughter, and stories that will be retold for generations.
At the request of the family, a Celebration of Clarence's life will be held privately.
