On August 1, 2025, Ciara Lee Smith, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, peacefully left this world after a battle with addiction.
She is survived by her loving parents, Crystal and Phillip Bell; her brother, Austin; her precious daughters, Paislee and Piper; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Ciara’s life will be honored in a private gathering with close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations dedicated to helping those struggling with addiction, in hopes of saving others and honoring Ciara’s memory.
Her light will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
“Through My Eyes”
I didn’t choose to lose everything.
At first, it felt small —
an escape,
a way to quiet the pain.
But the quiet didn’t last.
The more I reached for it,
the tighter it held me.
It pulled me away from my family,
from my friends,
from myself —
and from my precious Paislee and Piper.
I became someone I didn’t recognize,
someone I never wanted my girls to see.
I missed moments I can never get back.
I longed to hold them,
to be the mother they deserve,
but addiction kept me behind its walls.
I lied.
I stole.
I broke the hearts of people who only wanted to help.
I wanted to stop,
but I was trapped.
The harder I fought,
the heavier the chains felt.
Addiction took my laughter, my health,
my dreams for the future.
It almost took my hope —
almost.
If I could tell you one thing,
it would be this:
Don’t start.
And if you have —
don’t stop fighting.
You are worth the battle.
You are worth being free.
And if you’re a parent like me —
fight not just for yourself,
but for the little ones who love you
more than you could ever imagine.
