Charles, Michael (Mike) Feeney, 74 passed away Wednesday, April 21 in Murrell's Inlet, SC. He was the husband of Catherine Roseanne (Dowd) Feeney to whom he was married for over 41 years.
Born June 30, 1946 in York, PA, a son of the late Dorothy R (Sowers) and Charles M. Feeney, he was a 1964 graduate of York Catholic High School. Michael attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was drafted into the US. Army Signal Corp in January 1967 and served in Vietnam for three years. Upon his return from the Army, Mike worked for his dad at Feeney & McGuigan located at 987 E. Boundary Avenue in York and became full owner of the business until its closing in 2016.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life and enjoyed boating on the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay. He was a member and past commander of the United States Power Squadron. Favorite hobbies included ham radio communications, his train collection and gaining his pilot's license. Mike was known for hosting his family and friends at his vacation home in Ocean City, MD and also enjoyed activities such as riding his bike, driving his motorcycle and playing racquetball. He found particular joy in attending his grand-children's baseball games and volleyball activities.
In addition to his wife Cathy, Mr. Feeney is survived by a son, Michael Bryan Feeney of Brasoria, Texas, three daughters, Maryellen Mackey, and Christine M. Kahley, both of York, PA and Sandra M. Chronister and husband Troy of Cockeysville, MD; one grandson, Anthony Kahley of San Diego, CA and two grand-daughters, Georgianna M. Kahley of York, and Mallory C. Kurnik of York, and three sisters, Katie and husband Jon Schniepp of Hershey, PA, Ann Marie Donahue and partner, Bob Acton of Phoenixville, PA and Phoebe and husband Phil McLaughlin of Malvern, PA.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be held when finalized at Keffer Funeral Home located at 902 Mt Rose Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project Donor Care Center, PO Box 758541, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, PO Box 96764, Washington, DC 20090.
