Charles “Chuck” Lee Cooper, 84, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. Born on June 14, 1936 in Burnsville, NC, he was a son of the late John A. and Mildred L. Fox Cooper.
Chuck married the love of his life, Barbara on July 31, 1955. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, Sparrows Point, Md with 30 years of service. Chuck was passionate about golf and he worked at several golf courses in Virginia for over twenty years. They moved to Murrells Inlet in May 2012 and he worked at the International Golf Course in Murrells Inlet. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. Chuck and Barbara were former members of Glens Bay Baptist Church and currently are members of Coastal Life Community Church.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David Martin; grandson Christopher Martin (wife, Jessica); great-grandchildren, Finley Grace and Hayden Michael Martin. Also surviving is his sister, Brenda Rector. Chuck was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Carswell, Jackie Cooper and Billy Cooper.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 3:00pm in Hillcrest Cemetery, Conway, SC. Rev. Jordan Gandy will officiate. Covid-19 protocol will be followed. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Chuck’s name to the ALS Foundation http://www.alsfoundation.org/give/
