Charles “Bud” White Shearer, III, 85, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday May 28, 2023 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on March 17, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles White Shearer, Sr., & Dorothy Swimley Shearer.
Along with his parents, Bud is reunited in passing with his son, Charles Shearer, IV.
Bud proudly served our country in the United States Navy. During his time on the aircraft carrier, Bud was able to refine his chef skills. Following his honorable discharge, Bud went on to become a skilled manager for Sears Automotive. In his free time, Bud relished time spent outdoors. He enjoyed white water rafting, camping and working in his garden. Bud also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a proud member of, “Coots on Scoots.” When Bud wasn’t working in his garden, cruising the beach with his buddies or traveling the US in his RV, he could be found greeting and directing vacationers at Pirate Land. Bud’s ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, made it so he never met a stranger. Above all else, Bud loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Bud’ memory are his adoring wife of over 64 years, Mrs. Nancy Strobel Shearer of Murrells Inlet; their children, Cheryl Kohl and husband, Scott of Myrtle Beach & Damon Shearer and wife, Kellie of King of Prussia, PA; grandchildren, Kenny McGonigal, Crystal Staton, Drew Shearer, Brandon Shearer, Hallie Shearer, & Alexandra "Lucky" Shearer; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Shearer of West Chester, PA; sister, Sue Starkey from Kennett Square, PA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Bud’s life will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023 at 11:00AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
