Cecelia Mills Obituary

Cecelia Mills, 83, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at her home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was born on January 28, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico, to the late Jesus del Llano and Jesusita (Burrola) del Llano.

Cecelia is reunited in peace with her parents; her in-laws, Patricia Redway Mills and John D. Mills; her sister, Elvira “Veda” Barrett, and her husband, Harrison “Harry” Barrett; and her sister-in-law, Mary Sue del Llano.

Left to cherish Cecelia’s memory are her devoted husband of more than 63 years, Mr. William “Bill” Mills, whose steadfast love and care were a source of comfort and strength throughout their life together; her daughters, Noreen “Nora” Mills of Myrtle Beach and Lydia Mills and her husband, Gary Beecroft, of Lynnwood, Washington; her brother, Ramon del Llano of Midland, Texas; her brother-in-law, Jack W. Mills and his wife, Elizabeth, of New Haven, Connecticut; many nieces, nephews, and cousins from both the del Llano and Mills families; a large and loving extended family; many dear friends and neighbors; and several chosen daughters who were like family to her and held a very special place in her heart.

Cecelia loved her family with her whole heart, and her greatest joy came from time spent with those she loved most. In her younger years, she enjoyed staying active through tennis, running, and walking, often with a beloved dog by her side. She found happiness in her yard, tending to her plants, flowers, and large fruit and vegetable gardens. Cecelia was an avid reader, loved watching both vintage and new movies, enjoyed summer days by the pool, and took great delight in spoiling her beloved grand-dogs. Her kindness, warmth, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered always.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cecelia’s close friends for their love, compassion, visits, prayers, and exceptional care throughout her life. Their kindness was a true blessing to Cecelia and to all who loved her, and the family will always be deeply grateful.

A private celebration of Cecelia’s life will be held by her family.

At the family’s request, those wishing to honor Cecelia’s memory may make memorial contributions in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.

Cecelia’s love, quiet grace, and devotion will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
