Catherine (Speight) Berry

Catherine Speight Berry, 88, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday October 15, 2021 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on September 9, 1933 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Elias Carr & Alice Dawson Speight.

Along with her parents, Catherine is reunited in passing with her beloved husband of over 30 years, Gilbert L. Berry; and their son, James C. Berry.

Catherine was a faithful woman with a servant’s heart. She was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City where she attended mass daily. In her free time, she relished making memories with friends at the Burgess Community Center. Catherine had a love for baking and enjoyed sharing her confectionary delights with everyone. Above all else, Catherine loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Catherine’s memory are her daughters, Lisa Williams and her husband, Stephen of Ft. Collins, CO & Mary Heyde and her husband Marvin of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Gilbert Berry and his wife, Gloria of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer, Anna, Mary, Eric & Joseph; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Connor, & the twins; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Mass in Celebration of Catherine’s life will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576. Burial will follow at Oceanwoods Memorial Cemetery, 2408 S Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
