Carol A. (Emrhein) Higgins, 84, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born December 4, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carol was the daughter of the late Gilbert Ambrose Emrhein and Ethel Catherine (Brockmeyer) Emrhein.
Carol was raised in Brooklyn, New York until making her home in 1968 in Stillwater, New Jersey, where she raised her three children and created a lifetime of cherished memories. Carol dedicated 30 years of her career to Selective Insurance Company in Branchville, New Jersey, retiring in 2007.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, cruising to Bermuda, vacations at the Jersey shore, playing bingo, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Carol will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and sense of humor, as well as the deep love she had for those around her. She was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother and great grandmother,
and a treasured friend who will be deeply missed.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Kathleen and husband Herb Wilson of Murrells Inlet, SC, Carol Guerra of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Albert and wife Tabitha Higgins of Branchville, NJ. Her grandchildren, Andrew Wilson and wife Amy, Daniel Wilson, Nicholas Guerra, Brianna Guerra, Kazzandra Higgins and great grandson, Jacob Wilson.
A private Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2026, at the Lafayette House in Lafayette, New Jersey.
