Bruce E. Wirt, Sr. 65, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was born November 8, 1960, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late, Roger Wirt and Flora Jane Allen Wirt.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty six years, Cristal Wirt of Murrells Inlet, SC; two sons, Bruce Wirt, Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Devin Wirt and his wife Melissa of Murrells Inlet, SC; sister, Virginia Bee of Philadelphia, PA, brother, Roger Wirt and his wife, Linda, of Utah, sister, Linda Riley and her husband, Jim of The Villages, Florida, brother, Allan Wirt of Florida; grandchildren, Reagan, Jonathan and Oliver; as well as many extended family members.
A proud resident of South Carolina, Bruce lived his life to the fullest. He had a deep love for motorcycles, and time spent riding with the Hooligans, a brotherhood that meant the world to him. His love for adventure didn’t stop there—he was also an avid gun collector and enjoyed a passion for gadgets. Bruce loved his Philadelphia Phillies and The Philadelphia Eagles. He was a devoted fan, and those that knew him, knew he would be on his phone if we were out of the house watching the game.
In his earlier years, Bruce was a devoted bodybuilder, always dedicated to fitness and pushing the limits of his own strength. He carried that discipline into all aspects of his life, which inspired those around him.
As much as he loved his hobbies and passions, nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything. He was a devoted family man, and his love for them knew no bounds.
He also had a fondness for the past, often reminiscing about the good old days of TV, especially old westerns and shows from the 50s and 60s, which always brought a sense of nostalgia. His sense of humor and warmth made him a cherished friend to many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
