Brian Yardumian-Smyth Obituary

Brian Michael Yardumian-Smyth, passed away peacefully into the Spiritual World on Sunday, October 6 at the age of 87.

Brian was born in Ossining, NY of Irish immigrant parents, Bernard and Maggie (Meehan) Smyth.  He graduated from Ossining High School in 1950 and joined the Air Force, serving in Air Traffic Control in the Panama Canal.  He was also on the USAF traveling baseball team.

Brian raised his five children in New Orleans where he worked for Ragu Spaghetti Sauce (Chesebrough Ponds) as Regional Sales Manager.

In 1985, Brian married Esther Yardumian and moved to Bryn Athyn, PA; he took his Masters in Counseling and Human Relations from Villanova University and spent his next twenty years as a Counseling Therapist in the Philadelphia area, specializing in drug and alcohol addiction.

He and his wife moved to Pawleys Island in 2011 to enjoy retirement playing golf, smoking cigars, listening to classical music, and continuing to support Major League Baseball (San Francisco Giants!) and college football (Notre Dame!).  Brian also enjoyed any reading and discussion of philosophy and religion.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Esther-Marie and his five children: Kathleen Ford (Dave) of Oceanside, CA; Margaret Berzas of Lindale, TX; Brian Smyth, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; Theresa Smyth of Phoenix, AZ; and Carolyn Couvillion of New Orleans, LA.  He also has seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a myriad of nieces and nephews who survive him.   He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Terence Smyth, Mary Stevens, Eileen Dooley, and Gerald Smyth.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 13th at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 295576 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a slide show and short eulogies. The family invites everyone to their home afterward for a reception from 5:00-7:00pm.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 2:30pm Sunday, November 03, 2019 at The Lords New Church Cemetery, 1725 Huntingdon Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
