Brian Guy Mele
October 31, 1963 ~ December 4, 2023 (age 60) 60 Years Old
Brian Guy Mele, 60, of Murrells Inlet SC, formerly of Laconia NH, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2023. Brian was born October 31, 1963 in Pompton Plains NJ, the son of John and JoAnn (Granstrand) Hascup.
He began working in the family business, as a milkman in NJ for most of his young life. In his 20’s he moved to Puerto Rico for work and loved living in the sunshine and partaking in his favorite sport, golf. He moved to the Lakes Region of NH in the early 90’s where he worked as an insurance agent for his brother, later owning his own catering truck business, and then went on to finish his career in several car dealerships before he became ill, but he always said his biggest accomplishment in life was his “best pal”, his son Brett. After he was unable to work Brian dedicated his life to his son, going on to coach him in little league baseball, and cheering him on during football games.
Brian loved many things in life, among some of his favorites were the Garden City pier, sitting outside of his apartment in his red chair, watching football and baseball, and cooking. Life gave Brian many challenges, most of which nobody knew by the way he never let it affect his attitude or outlook on life. Brian's favorite response when asked about himself was “living the dream”. In the end he chose what was most important to him. His love for his son combined with his faith in Christ, helped Brian focus on having a meaningful life. He gave of himself to many at his church, Shepherd of the Sea, with his friends in AA, and his community. His kind and personable nature let him make friends wherever he went. He was generous in all he did and said, and he will be sincerely missed. Now that he’s moved on from this life to the next, he truly will be ‘living the dream’.
Survivors include his son Brett M Mele, and his significant other Jessica Wyatt of Laconia; three brothers, Bruce Mele, Scott Mele and his wife Maura, and Craig Mele and his wife Suzanne. His Uncle Jack and wife Ceil Granstrand, Uncle Mark and wife Kathy Granstrand, Aunt Margaret Baudendistel, and Aunt Mary Ruth Burns. His nieces and nephews Bruce, Joshua, Mitchell, Megan, and Mackenzie, and his grandchildren Alexis, Landon, and Paisley.
Brian was predeceased by his father John Hascup in 2008, his mother JoAnn Hascup in 2018 and his Uncle, Dave Granstrand.
