Beverly Monroe Obituary

Beverly Wilkinson Monroe, formerly of Horse Run Road, Little Genesee, NY died October 17, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Born March 13, 1932 in Bolivar, NY, Beverly was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Blanche Philips Wilkinson.  On December 5, 1951 at the Bolivar United Methodist Church she married Richard V. Monroe.  They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

Beverly graduated as Salutatorian of Bolivar Central School Class of 1950.  She completed many American Institute of Banking Courses.  She worked as Executive Secretary at Clark Brothers in Olean, retired from Key Bank and later worked short term for Career Consultants of Olean, Catt County BOCES, Alcas Cutlery and Exchange Bank.

Beverly was an active 50 year member of Bolivar United Methodist Church. She served 20 years as treasurer of Olean District United Methodist Trustees and several years in various offices of the Olean District United Methodist Women including President.

She also served many years as lay member to Western New York Conference of Methodist Church.  Beverly was a member of the Little Genesee Garden Club, Miller Hollow Missionary Group and Merry Gals Home Bureau.  She was a longtime volunteer at Mental Health Agency of Allegany County. She volunteered at the Habitat for Humanities and Murrells Inlet – Garden City Fire District front office in South Carolina.

Beverly and Dick spent many winters in Myrtle Beach and moved there in 2015.  She was a member of the Surfside United Methodist Church, the Mary Baker Circle and the Surfside Senior Citizens Club.  She also enjoyed the Jensen’s Community Garden Club.

In addition to her husband, Beverly is survived by four daughters, Barbara M. Dolan of Mt. Pleasant, PA; Pamella M. (David) Brown of Murrells Inlet, SC; Linda M. (Scott) Haines of Rochester, NY; Sara M. (Jeffrey) Shields of Lyons, NY and one son, Richard A. (Sharon) Monroe of Syracuse, NY.  She has 7 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and 7 great-grandchildren. She has a foster daughter, Mary Loucks of Cameron, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Beverly is predeceased by her grandson, Zackary Monroe McCarthy, two sisters, Betty J. Wilkinson and Kate Langworthy and one brother, Robert D. Wilkinson.

A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be held 11AM on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Eagle Crest Apartments in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Burial will be in Wells Cemetery in Little Genesee, NY at a later date.
