Betty Jean "Scottie" Pickett Mejia

Betty Jean “Scottie” Pickett Mejia, 53, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday October 9, 2020 at her home in Galivants Ferry, South Carolina. She was born on April 22, 1967 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Arnold Wayne Pickett & Audrey Jean (Huggins) Pickett.

Along with her parents, Scottie is reunited in death with her adoring daughter, Candace “Candy” Mejia.

Scottie was a loving mother with a heart of gold. Her family was her world and she would gladly offer the shirt from her back to anyone in need. Scottie was a skilled and dedicated waitress in the restaurant industry for many years. She loved spending time with family and making memories with friends. Scottie will be deeply missed but remembered for the amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she truly was.

Left to cherish Scottie’s memory are her daughters, Amanda Suarez-Martinez and her husband, Domingo Suarez-Martinez of Conway, & Cassie Mejia of Galivants Ferry; son in-law, Armando Aguillar of Conway; eight grandchildren; sisters, Sissy Baird of Angier, NC  & Becky Pickett and her husband, Frank Fakhouri of Conway; niece, Alisha Barrentine of Conway; four great-nephews and one great niece; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Scottie’s life will be held on Saturday October 17, 2020 at 1:00PM at the family residence, 114 Sandfield Ct. Galivants Ferry, SC 29544. The family will greet friends from 12:00PM until the time of service.
