Betty Munns Obituary

Betty Jon Munns, 91 of Surfside Beach/Pawleys Island, SC passed away peacefully on Monday September 8th, 2025. She was born on September 25, 1933, in Worth County, GA to the late John Robert Stephens and Lucille Mullis Stephens.

She was raised in Morven, GA before marrying and moving to New Jersey where she raised five children and lived for 54 years before moving to South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter E Munns and brother Julian Stephens.

Betty is survived by her brother Max Stephens (Sandy Lee), five children, Walter Munns (Stacey), Stephen Munns (Jose), Luanne Blanchard (Bruce), Michael Munns (Cindy), Alexander Munns (Denise); grandchildren, Jason Blanchard, Jonathan Blanchard (Tia), Jesse Blanchard, Brittany Dickerson (Kody), Cassidy Sanderson, Alexander Munns II (Marisa), Parker Munns (Elena),Wade Munns, Wyatt Munns, Mathew Munns and Connor Munns; great grandchildren, Aubrey Blanchard, Aiden Blanchard, Henry Dickerson and Oliver Dickerson, as well as a niece and nephews, cousins and friends.

She loved her family with all her heart and made the effort to attend every special event in their lives. She treated everyone she knew and met with kindness. She will be greatly missed by all.

A funeral Mass will be held 11am on Monday September15, 2025 at St Mary of the Lakes, Medford, NJ. Burial to follow. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am at the church.

Arrangements for services and burial in NJ is being handled by Mathis Funeral Home in Medford, NJ.

At the request of the family please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Betty's name may be made to Tunnels to Towers or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Arbor Landing at Pawleys Island for their friendship and care provided to our mother. She greeted them daily with a little dance and a smile.
