Betty Lou Childers, 81, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Rockwell, NC, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand surrounded by her family.
Lou was born on August 3, 1938 in Salisbury, NC to the late Ashley and Mary (Eudy) Brady.
She enjoyed classic TV shows and westerns, especially Gunsmoke. Lou was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. She liked to spend time reading and visiting the beach and Brookgreen Gardens. Lou cherished the time she spent with her family. She attended Kingsway Pentecostal Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, Lou is preceded in death by her brother, James “Bud” Brady, and a grandson, Steven Wray.
Surviving to honor her memory are; her husband of 60 years, Charles Wayne Childers of Myrtle Beach; three children, Carmen Howard (Kirk) of Concord, NC, Tia Hallford of Myrtle Beach, Chuck Childers (Stacy) of West Greenwich, RI; a sister, Delah Hinson; six grandchildren, Liz Hallford, Joe Wray, Chuckie Childers, Ashton Howard, Taylor Childers and Brady Childers; two great-grandchildren, Nolan Chama and Aemon Howard; along with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Due to the current pandemic, masks are required to be worn inside the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Kingsway Pentecostal Church, 2407 S. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
