Benjamin Brown Sr. Obituary

Lt. Col. (Ret) Benjamin Cogburn Brown Sr., 89, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Ben was a loving husband and father, who, after retiring from a career in the Air Force, enjoyed playing golf, keeping up with the stock market and watching his beloved Gamecocks. For a brief time, he instructed math at Horry Georgetown Tech and was a realtor. Ben graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Business Management in 1958 and was commissioned into the Air Force after his graduation. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Garden City, SC.

Ben is survived by his children Anna B. Brown, Benjamin (Bo) C. Brown, Jr., and Laura E. B. Haselden, grandchildren Daniel Brown, Bridget Petitgout, Anna Petitgout, and Nettie Haselden, as well as his older brother E.H. (Buck) Brown Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Evelyn Vickers Brown, his parents E.H. (Brownie) Brown Sr. and Anabel Cogburn Brown of Bishopville, SC.

 A funeral service with military honors will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2025, at 2:30pm At St. Michaels Catholic Church 542 Cypress Avenue Murrells Inlet SC, 29576
