Battalion Chief James Andrew Cyganiewicz, 46, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away suddenly Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was born December 20, 1974 in Alexandria, LA son of Jeffery Allen Cyganiewicz and the late Linda Lee Cyganiewicz.
In addition to his father of Socastee, James is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Cyganiewicz of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Catherine Cyganiewicz of Myrtle Beach; sister, Lisa Cyganiewicz of Socastee; two brothers, Scott Cyganiewicz and his wife, Susan of Conway and Michael Cyganiewicz of Socastee; brother-in-law, Reese Boyd and his wife, Leila of Murrells Inlet; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved K-9 Arson Dog, Summer. He is preceded in death by his K-9 Arson Dog, Navy.
Battalion Chief James Cyganiewicz volunteered with Horry County for several years before becoming a career member in 1993. He served as the HCFR Investigation Units Chief Investigator and most recently earned the title of Battalion Chief.
He was the first Arson Investigator to have a K-9 Arson Dog in the state of South Carolina.
James was an avid hunter and enjoyed cooking tons of food for family and friends. Above all he enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to offer a helping hand.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Beach Church, 557 George Bishop Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Monday, November 22, 2021 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
