Barry Roy Simpson, 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
Born September 23, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ, Barry commemorated that date by wedding wife, Anne 19 years later. Together they raised their family in Greenwich and later Brookfield, CT ultimately retiring from AT&T in Chattanooga, TN before settling down in Little River, SC.
Barry earned his Associates degree in engineering while working full-time at Southern New England Telephone. Forever a problem solver, Barry could literally build or fix absolutely anything. While in Brookfield, Barry served as an officer for the Jaycees, coached Pop Warner and Brookfield Baseball Association and loved playing softball at Cadigan Field.
Second only to Barry’s love of family and friends, was his love of classic cars, motorcycles, golf, landscaping, stock trading and fine bourbon which “you do NOT mix with anything. Period.”
Barry is survived by high-school sweetheart, lifetime companion and soulmate Anne, wife of 54 years, daughter Tracy (Simpson) Bedlack and husband Joe of Suffield CT, son Barry “Buddy” and wife Denise of Bend, OR and grandchildren Ryan, Genevieve and Joselynne, who filled his heart with boundless love, strength and happiness. He also leaves behind sisters Maryellen Coles of Tampa, FL, Debbie Currere of Roswell, GA, beloved uncle Bill Bollman of Middlesex, NJ and forever friends Barbara and Bill Studwell of Greenwich, CT and Janet and Gary Dillon of Wilmington, NC.
A celebration of honor and memory will be held at Anne & Barry’s home in SC later this year.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be deeply grateful with making a donation in Barry’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at http://michaeljfox.org.
Lastly, the Simpson family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at McCloud Seacoast Hospital for their tireless aid and compassion.
