Anthony Metro Obituary

Anthony "Tony" John Metro, aged 84, a devoted husband to Patricia Metro, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, October 19, 2023, while under the care of Grand Strand Medical Center. Tony's journey began in Rochester, NY, where he was born to the late Anthony J. Metro and Sadye Metro. He is reunited in eternal rest with his parents and brother, Robert Metro, who preceded him in death.

A proud United States Navy Veteran, Mr. Metro retired as a Chief Petty Officer and dedicated his life to serving his country. He worked as a Civil Servant, retiring from the Federal Government. Tony had a passion for golf that went beyond being just a hobby; he was an avid and amateur professional golfer who found immense joy in playing golf, particularly at Medal Of Honor Golf Course near his previous home in Quantico, Virginia. He possessed a remarkable talent for the sport and cherished the camaraderie it offered.

Family meant the world to Tony. He was a devoted father to his children and step-children, a cherished grandfather and proud great-grandfather. Survived by his beloved younger sister, Debbie. Tony's immediate family included his daughter, Suzanne Lail, and her husband, Stephen Lail. He found profound joy as a grandfather to their children Jessica, Joe Bustillos, their child, Sebastian Bustillos, and his grandson, Daniel Lail. His son, Terry Metro, and his daughter, Dulcinea Metro, held a special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment and memory they shared. Tony took immense pride in the achievements and character of his family.

Tony’s stepchildren, Nick Post and Stephanie Post, along with the extended family from his wife's side, were cherished members of his life, adding to the legacy of love and unity that he held dear.

Tony had a zest for life that extended beyond his personal interests. He was a grill master who enjoyed cooking outdoors, a talented singer who often participated in karaoke events, and a dedicated community member who actively participated in various veteran events. His commitment to his community and his fellow veterans was unwavering. Tony’s wide circle of friends brought joy to his life. He will be deeply missed by those who cherished his friendship.
