Angelo M. Rubano

Angelo M. Rubano, age 76, transitioned from life on earth to heaven on July 22, 2026 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born November 9, 1949 in Lakewood, New Jersey a son of the late Florence Parker Rubano and Alfred Rubano. In addition to his parents, he was reunited in Heaven with his brothers, Robert C. Parker and Jack Simons.

A lifelong learner, Angelo graduated with honors from Lakewood High School in 1968. He continued his education at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Education in 1972- graduating with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He later earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Supervision from Georgian Court University in Lakewood in 1980.

On November 2, 1969, Angelo married the love of his life, Robbin Ann Tilton. Together they built a loving family and shared more than five decades of marriage filled with faith, devotion, and treasured memories.

Angelo proudly served his country in the United States Army from November 1972 until November 1975, attaining the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5) while serving as an Acting Sergeant. Stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey, he was named the First Soldier of the Year  in 1974 and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in recognition of his dedication and exemplary military service.

Following his honorable military service, Angelo devoted his professional life to education. He spent 35 years at Wall High School in Wall Township, New Jersey, where he began his career as a history teacher in 1972.  His passion for education and commitment to students eventually led him to the role of Assistant Principal, a position he held from 1997 until his retirement in 2007.  He also served as an assistant soccer coach and head baseball coach from 1991 to 1997, leading the Crimson Knights to the 1994 NJSIAA Group II State Championship.  He was also  honored as The Star Ledger's Coach of the Year in 1994 for his efforts in leading his team to the title.  In 2005 he was elected to the Wall Township Sports Hall of Fame.   Throughout his career, Angelo was respected as an educator, mentor, coach, and leader whose influence extended far beyond the classroom.

Following retirement, Angelo and Robbin relocated to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, where he embraced the coastal lifestyle he loved. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, golfing with friends, and giving back to his community through volunteer work with Brookgreen Gardens. A devoted member of Belin United Methodist Church, Angelo was known for his warm smile, welcoming spirit, participation in the church choir, and service as a Sunday School teacher. His steadfast faith, kind heart, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Left to celebrate his memory are his beloved wife, Robbin Ann Rubano of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; his sons, Angelo M. Rubano Jr. of Tampa, Florida, and Ryan M. Rubano and his wife, Christina, of Medford, New Jersey; six cherished grandchildren, Kyra Lugo and her husband Luis, Philip Rubano, Kayla Dunn and her husband Jaden, Anthony Rubano, Alexandra Rubano, and Avery Rubano; three great-grandsons, Darius Lugo, Dylan, Lugo, and Gabriel Lugo; his brothers, Alfred Rubano and his wife, Diane, of Toms River, New Jersey, and Arthur Rubano and his wife, Trudy, of Manahawkin, New Jersey; his sister-in-law Barbara Simons, of Taylorsville, North Carolina; his sister-in-law Paulette Burns of Gainesville, Florida; his brother in-law Russel "Butch" Tilton of Inverness, Florida; along with many extended family members, lifelong friends, former students, and colleagues who will forever treasure his memory.

A Celebration of Angelo's Life will be held at Belin United Methodist Church, 4182 U.S. Highway 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Saturday August 8, 2026 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.

Burial with military honors will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 on Friday September 4, 2026 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Angelo's memory to Dragon Boat at The Beach (DragonBoatAtTheBeach.org) or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
