Allan Haedrich Obituary

Allan L. Haedrich, 90, of North Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand. He was born July 12, 1928 in New York, NY, son of the late Oscar Haedrich and Laura Borcherding Haedrich.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Hugo Oscar Haedrich.  We met 42 years ago at Captain's Dick Marina where he enjoyed fishing, the water and his high speed boat, The LeroyB.  He also enjoyed Big Band Music and was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games with his one grandson, Michael and also chess in which he taught me and a grandson, Jeffry.  He had loved his dogs, a border collie, Cloudie and her pup, Blue, Thunder and Lightening, chows, Ming, China Poo Too and Chiang Wang and a Tn, tree walker, Lady.  He always encouraged me in playing my keyboard after my revelation with my mother. He created a special password for me and the grandchildren before opening the door for us, "Swordfish" and we all would giggle. His special quotes to me were when he held my hand "Gimme your paw" and when putting on his hearing aids, "I'm on the air".

Survivors include his loving wife, Ross Maples Haedrich of North Myrtle Beach; four daughters, Linda Thomas of Sumter, SC, Madeline Haedrich of Panama City Beach, FL, Pamela Haedrich of Sumter, SC and Laura Mayes and her husband John of Vine Grove, KY; step-children, Richard R. Natali, Jr of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mary Ross Watson from Burnsville, NC, Christian E. Maples Natali from Friendsville, TN, Gregory Keith Natali of Panama, South American, Katherine Louise Natali of Boone, NC and Frank Ellis Natali  of South Lake, TX; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Allan retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of dedicated service. During his time in the military, Allan was a proud C130 Pilot Instructor who had 4 crewmen serve under him. He was the proud recipient of the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation as well as the Army Commendation Medals, and was a member of the Flying Jennies.

A graveside service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.

My tribute to my husband:

The tears, they flo and I cannot go for I have to stay and watch my beloved waste away from day to day.  He lashes out, but it's not at me his failing body is the reality.  He is not the man that He use to be.  He now stands on the edge of eternity.

I know what's beyond, for it has been revealed to me by a loving God is reality.  My beloved does not believe, so I'll try hard not to grieve his decision.  Treasure the gift of time, breakfast prayer, the chess games, exercise room, short walks, discussions and an easy glass of wine with candles lit and our world is fine.  Farewell Best Friend as I watch you go, try not to hurry for I love you so and the tears they flo.
