Alfred Weaver, 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 19, 2022 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on July 7, 1924 in Amsterdam, New York to the late Andrew Tkacz & Mary Kasprzyk.
Along with his parents, Alfred is reunited in passing with his beloved wife of over 64 years, Frieda L. Weaver; their son, Alfred K. Weaver; and siblings, Stanley Weaver, Joseph Weaver & John Tkacz and Jane Lias, Adeline Wojcik & Anna.
Alfred proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for over 20 years. During that time, Alfred served in WWII, the Korean War, The Chosin Resivor as well as Iwo Jima and the other Pacific Islands. During his enlistment, Alfred was responsible for instructing reservists in the US Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Training Center. Following his well-deserved retirement, and a chest full of metals and decorations, Gunnery Sergeant Alfred Weaver, was honorably discharged from the military. Alfred then went on to work for AMF Bowling Company in Westbury, Long Island, New York for another 20 years before his second retirement. Alfred enjoyed many trips over the years with family and relatives to the Myrtle Beach area. Several years ago, Alfred made Myrtle Beach his second home. In his free time, Alfred was an avid bowler and loved golfing. Above all else, Alfred loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Alfred’s memory are his daughter, Jeanne M. Weaver of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina & Mineola, New York; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors both here locally and back in NY.
A graveside service in Celebration of Alfred’s life will held at Quantico National Cemetery. Those details will be announced when finalized.
