William "Bill" P Knarre, Sr.

William “Bill” P. Knarre, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at the Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on May 14, 1942 in Teaneck, New Jersey to the late Fredrick Knarre & Therese Kozuck Knarre.

Along with his parents, Bill is reunited in death with his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen Knarre & his sister, Kitty Fuhrman.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Bill went on to operate his own auto repair business. He then transitioned to the insurance industry and co-owned  an independent insurance agency. Following his retirement, Bill was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He loved traveling, woodworking and building things with his hands. Many of Bill’s family and friends would describe him as a car enthusiast  for his love for all cars.   Bill also devoted a lot of time to civic duty in his retirement, serving in many local roles, including Deputy Mayor of Long Beach Township NJ from 2009-2012.

 Bill was always happiest being near the coast and felt most fortunate to spend his retirement years there. He will be truly missed.

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his sons, William P. Knarre, Jr., and his wife, Linda of Shelby Township, Michigan & Michael Knarre and his wife, Kathy of Oakhurst, New Jersey; his companion over the last 9 years, Kathy Fowlie of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Katie, Chris, Brennan, & Erin; as well as many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday April 12, 2019 at 2:00PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may respectfully be made in lieu of flowers to: St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Michael Catholic Church, 572 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576.
