Vincent P. Welsh

Vincent Paul Welsh, 86, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1932 in Haverstraw, NY, son of the late Vincent Manion Welsh and Susan Natale Welsh.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Welsh, Alice D’Auria, Rita Bodnar, Robert Welsh, Carol Welsh and Michael Welsh.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Shirley Anna Welsh of Murrells Inlet; children, Laurie Ann Valentine and her husband Charles of NY, Cathleen Marie Gavin and her husband Michael of NJ, Vincent M. Welsh and his wife Sooky Kim of NY and Robert Paul Welsh and his wife Heather of NJ; sisters, Katherine Welsh of NY, Susan Welsh of NY and, Francis Toscano of NY; brothers, Larry Welsh of HI, James Welsh of FL, John Welsh of SC and David Welsh of SC; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Valentine, Ryan Gavin, Samantha Kim Welsh, Christopher Gavin, Kristen Welsh, John Paul Gavin, Matthew Welsh and Andrew Welsh; and one great grandchild, Cristiano Guzman.

Vincent was a member of the United States armed forces and served four years in the Marine Corps. He served during the Korean War.

He devoted thirty-six years to Orange and Rockland Utilities before retiring to SC in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement by taking up the game of golf. Vincent was a Parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a compassionate loving husband, father and grandfather.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00am Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

Inurnment with military honors will be held 9:00am Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in the St. Michael's Church Columbarium. 

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Vincent’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice-Mercy Care, 8216 Devon Ct. Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
