Shirley Weiss Obituary

Shirley May Weiss, 97, of Pawley's Island , SC., went to her eternal home and savior Jesus on February 23, 2019.

She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Cincinnati, OH, to Albert and Alma (Maffey) Rudler, and was the eldest of 6 siblings.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband John with whom she raised 5 children. Together they created a strong and inspirational family bond which was their ultimate gift in life to her family.  

She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, crocheting, traveling with family members, and all family gatherings.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and created a comfortable home that welcomed everyone.  She was beautiful, wise, funny and will be missed.

She is survived by sisters Patricia Eldridge and Bernice Randall of Cincinnati, OH; by children Douglas (Leslie) Weiss of Pawley's Island, SC; Barbara (Thomas) Parnell of Catonsville, MD; Vicki (Tony) Aiken of Virginia Beach, VA; Debbi (John Jr.) Hipkins of Pawley's Island, SC; and Janet (Michael) Dihmes of New Market, MD.  In addition to 14 loving grandchildren (Nicholas (Kaye), Lisa (Jordan), Ryan (Amanda), Colleen (Tal), Jesse (Leslie), Briana (Jason), Marisa (Mike), Jason, Melanie, Sarah, Tony (Erika), Andrew, Rebecca (Dustin), and Colin), she was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren (Josie, Nicholas Jr., Henry, Hannah, John, Galya, Claire, Violet, Nora, Jillian, Avery, Charlotte, Andrew Jr., Sam, Everett) all of whom she adored, and  was looking forward to receiving her 16th great-grandchild (pre-born baby Sanchez) in March.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to:   Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, Outreach Ministries,  1633 Waverly Road, Pawley's Island SC 29585.

A celebration of her life will take place at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church and private internment at a future date.
