Richard A. Carroll, 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday November 15, 2019 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on January 3, 1942 in Plattsburg, New York to the late Gordon & Katherine (Whitfield) Carroll.
Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in passing by his beloved son, Paul Carroll; and brother, David Carroll.
Dick was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He proudly served our great country in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Dick was able to continue helping others and became a fire fighter for the city of Rochester, New York. Dick was proud of his accomplishments and community. He was a lifelong member and past commander of the American Legion post 1830. Above all else, Dick appreciated the simple things in life. In his free time and after his retirement from the fire department, Dick loved to be out doors and loved hunting and fishing. Above all else, Dick loved his family and visiting with friends at Dunkin Donuts. He will be truly missed.
Left to cherish Dick’s memory are his beloved wife and soul mate of 56 years, Mrs. Carol (Bryson) Carroll of Murrells Inlet; their children, Suzanne Kier and her husband, Brian of Rochester, New York & David Carroll and his significant other, Tambra of Trevor, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Christine, David, Brett, Ryan, CayLeigh, Shane, & Jason; his cherished fur-babies, KiKi & Buddy; as well as a large, loving, extended family & many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Friday November 22, 2019 at 3:00PM at Seaside Community Church, 11540 Hwy 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576, within the Inlet Square Mall.
