Phyllis Perryman Black, 63, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday August 1, 2019 at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on August 4, 1955 in Lexington, North Carolina to the late Edward Perryman & Doris Anderson.
Along with her parents, Phyllis is reunited in death with her beloved husband, Henry Earl Black; her great-grandmother, Laura Anderson Holloway; her uncle, James Holloway, Jr.; cousins, Kim Suber & Donna Honeycutt.
Phyllis was a fantastic chef who loved to share her recipes and love of cooking with her family. She was an optimistic woman with heart of gold. She always saw her glass as half full, and it was full of love…or coke cola. She was a social butterfly with a personality larger than life. In her free time, Phyllis could be found sewing, doing cross-stitch and quilting. She was also active in The Red Hat Society and collected Coke Cola memorabilia. Her patience and attention to beauty and detail lead her to love video games later in life. She also treasured her beloved animals. Above all else, Phyllis loved her family with her whole heart. Her granddaughter was the apple of her eye and her best friend. Phyllis will be deeply missed for her caring demeanor, positive attitude and love for flowers.
Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her children, Laura Humphries of Garden City, SC & James Humphries of Cayce, SC; sons in-law, Michael T. Dean, II & Gary W. Kangas, II; granddaughter, Madison RosaLynn Dean; sister, Hilda Sigmon of Dallas, TX; aunt, Pat Ludwick of China Grove, NC; her lifelong best friends Judy Baker of Kannapolis, NC, Laurie Williams also of Kannapolis, NC & Jo Anne Furney Whitfield of Sanford, NC; cousins, Mark, Scott & Brian Ludwick; nieces, Beth Morris of Salisbury, NC & DeAnn DeSouza of Dallas TX; as well as a large, loving, extended family & many supportive friends and neighbors.
