June Adair Gilmour, 96, passed away at Grand Strand Health Care, Socastee, South Carolina on Monday, September 2, 2019.
June was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 27, 1922 to Helen and Alexander Rupp.
June graduated High School and went to work as a Clerk Typist. Shortly after, she met her husband John Christian Gilmour, a WWII Army Veteran. The couple settled in Richmond Hill New York, raising two daughters and a son. The couple retired to Myrtle Beach in 1995, where June was able to pursue her favorite hobbies, photography, decorating, doll collecting and traveling. Little did they know that they would be together for 74 years, until John's death at age 94.
June leaves behind two daughters, June Gilmour of Rego Park, New York, Sharon and husband Michael, of Myrtle Beach, and grandson, Bruce Gilmour of Astoria, New York. June had one son, Dennis Gilmour, who died at age 65. June also leaves behind sister-in-law Lillian Gilmour of Kearny, New Jersey, cousin Gloria Johnson of Brooklyn, New York, and many very special nieces and nephews. Lastly, June leaves behind her "baby" parrott Albie.
The family would like to praise everyone at GSHC, who kept their "June Bug" happy, healthy, with the opportunity to age with dignity.
The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice, who tended to June in her last hours with love and care.
A celebration of June's life will be held at a later date.
