Julie Elizabeth Wood Harbin, 72, of Murrells Inlet, SC departed this life January 24, 2019 to prepare for her next soul adventure. In the final seven years of her life, Julie engaged in a spirited and spiritually transformational encounter with cancer. Cancer, she said, gave her the incentive and the time to go inward and address her deepest needs as an eternal spiritual being.
During this life, Julie was generous with her love, her innate wisdom, her resources, her sense of humor, and her friendship. In her world, everyone’s life has meaning and value.
Born October 21, 1946 in Clinton, SC to Dr. Burrell L. Wood, Jr. and Bessie Fortner Wood, she graduated from Furman University in 1968, interned on Capitol Hill for a year, and spent twenty –nine years with Hughes Aircraft Company in Washington, DC and Los Angeles. She and her beloved husband of 28 years, Joe, retired to Murrells Inlet in 2001.
Survivors include her loving husband Joe, her much loved stepchildren, Jennifer Harbin Lake of Eldersburg, MD, Todd Harbin of Portland, OR, three step-grandchildren, Gabriel, Jared, and Grace, twin brother Jerry Wood of Sautee, GA, sisters, Vicki Wood DePalma of Stephens City, VA, and Pamela Wood Browne and step-mother, Bethyl Wood both of Greenville, SC, and many very dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
