Jean Carole (Formica) Wasowski

Jean Carole Wasowski, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 3, 2019 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was born on June 13, 1945 in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Delfino Formica & Louise Polla Formica. 

A well-educated woman, Jean was an English teacher for many years and had a strong passion for instilling knowledge and guiding youth. A lifelong learner, Jean loved to further her own education and could often be found reading and researching in her free time. She also loved the beach; the Jersey Shore, Bermuda, Aruba, the Virgin Islands, St. Martin, it didn't matter. Some of her favorite moments were spent soaking up the sun and the ocean with family and friends. She had real estate agent's zeal for houses and homes, serious writing skills and an uncanny ability to organize projects. Jean spoke her truth clearly, always expressed herself honestly (often without reservation) and was deeply trusted by everyone around her.  Her “take-no-nonsense” attitude provided strength and a lot of laughter to those closest to her.  She will be dearly missed. A woman with strong faith and character, Jean was a member at Calvary Chapel in Myrtle Beach. 

Left to cherish Jean’s memory is her beloved husband of over 51 years, Mr. John “Jack” Wasowski of Murrells Inlet; their sons, Jay Wasowski, Douglas Wasowski (Nichole) and Matthew Wasowski and his wife, Margo; sister, Deanna Lewis; and many supportive friends and neighbors. 

A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Calvary Chapel Myrtle Beach, 316 Bush Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 on Saturday, February 23rd from 1pm. There will also be a Celebration of Jean’s life to be held at Calvary Chapel Green Valley, Sandy Ridge Pkwy., Henderson, Nevada, date and time to be determined.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name in lieu of flowers to the Calvary Chapel Myrtle Beach or Calvary Chapel Green Valley at the addresses listed above.
