Gevone Carson Norris, 71, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on October 4, 1947 in Conway, South Carolina to the late Carson Pickett & Edna Jane (Gasque) Norris.
Along with his parents, Gevone is reunited in death with his brothers, Jerry & Bobby Norris; sister, Betty Cook; and beloved granddaughter, Sarah Alexandria McCall Watkins.
Gevone proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work in the glass factory and was able to enjoy the finer things in life. Gevone was a soft spoken man, but when he did speak, everyone listened. He had a personality larger than life and a sense of humor to match. In his free time, Gevone loved to fish and loved to work with his hands and tinker with anything and everything. He especially enjoyed time spent working on cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats with his family, and spending time with his family and friends. Gevone loved his family with his whole heart, and they loved him the same.
A devoted husband, dedicated father, and doting grandfather, Gevone leaves to cherish his memory, his adoring wife of nearly 41 years, Mrs. Gila May Lowes Norris of Murrells Inlet; sons, Christopher (Melissa) Watkins of Georgia & Jason Watkins of Murrells Inlet; granddaughter, Taylor Boyd; sisters, Diana Norris of Columbia & Tammy Norris of Texas; mother and father in-law, Harvey & Patsy Lowes also of Murrells Inlet; his “daughter,” and companion, Roger the cockatoo & furbabies, Pumpkin & Harley; as well as, a multitude of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Gevone’s life will be held privately.
The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation the kind words of comfort and compassion shown to them by Regency Hospice. May God bless you all.
