Freddy Motta Obituary

Fred Motta, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday November 1, 2019. He was born on September 3, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph Motta & Elsie (Sabatino) Motta.

A hardworking and dedicated man with a heart of gold. Fred never met a stranger, making anyone he met feel like one of the family. He had a personality that could light up the darkest room, an infectious smile and a laugh that could be heard from miles away. Fred loved working with his hands and was a master at any craft he picked up. His artistic eye and passion for beauty lead him to becoming a skilled and talented furniture restoration artist and master craftsman.  He was an incredible storyteller and always looked for an excuse to dance.

In his free time, Fred loved to ride his Harley and feel the wind in his beard. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle, and walking his beloved dogs. Fred had a deep love for reading, reciting and discussing scripture from the bible. He preferred vodka over rum, strong coffee, the laughter of family and friends. Fred loved his family with his whole heart and soul. He will forever be remembered for his Sunday morning breakfasts, especially his notorious potatoes! He will forever be the hero of his sons' and baby girl, the rock for them all and the one who always figured it out!  A truly amazing husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Left to cherish Fred’s memory are his beloved wife of 37 years, Mrs. Barbara Doyle Motta, their children, Derek Motta of Littleton, CO, Garrett Motta and Cecelia Motta of Myrtle Beach; sister, Patricia Bonasera and her husband Charles of Pleasanton, CA; niece, Denielle Bonasera; nephew, Anthony Bonasera; his beloved and adoring animals, Bam, Holly, Stella, Eloise & Frankie; his grand-dogs, Pocho, Ava, & Keyser; as well as a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 6:00PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will greet friends from 4:00PM until the time of service.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please consider doing something Fred would have appreciated. Go for a walk on the beach, feel the wind in your hair, walk your dog and enjoy the small things in life, but above all, dance like no one is watching!
